£200,000 Investment to bring Tinsley Park Golf Course up to par.
Tinsley Park Golf Course is to receive a £200,000 investment from leading leisure provider Sheffield International Venues (SIV).
Founded in 1920, the 18-hole course which is steeped in tradition, is one of four pay as you play golf courses in Sheffield and Chesterfield operated by SIV.
The work on the clubhouse is due to be completed by April 1 and is set to include improvements to the public areas and changing rooms in the building, which was originally the first lord mayor of Sheffield’s dwelling.
The injection of funds is part of a wider investment plan which will see the course receive further funding for more substantial works in the next five years.
Andy Carnall, golf manager at SIV, explained: “A portion of the money will be spent on repairs to the outer shell of the building, and the majority will be spent on decorating the interior of the building, particularly the Pro shop and changing rooms.”
Other improvements include the addition of a café and bar into the downstairs area of the clubhouse to serve hot and cold food and drinks, which will be open to the public and golfers.
Andy added: “The refurbishment of the clubhouse is good news for Tinsley Park Golf Course as it builds for a new future and will attract a number of golfers to this already popular golf course, in allowing us to provide golf society days and corporate events at Tinsley.”
SIV is one of the largest sport, entertainment and leisure groups in the North of England operating 14 venues in Sheffield including Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, the English Institute of Sport – Sheffield and iceSheffield.
It also runs three other golf courses in Sheffield and Chesterfield – Tapton Park, Beauchief and Birley Wood, which combined with Tinsley Park deliver 200,000 rounds per year.
SIV has recently completed a similar £250,000 investment project at Tapton Park Golf Course.
