Pro's Tips
There are good and bad days on the golf course and everyone needs a head start sometimes, especially if you've never played the course before. That's why we've developed a set of pro's tips for Tinsley Park Golf Course to help improve your score.

PGA Qualified SIV Golf Manager Andy Carnall shares his inside secrets to the perfect round at Tinsley Park as he guides you round the course with his Pro's tips. Tinsley Park is no ordinary course, it's known as the golfer's favourite with its many challenges and plenty of variety over 18 holes

Hole 1
A testing par 4 to start your round. A good drive to the top of the hill leaves a medium iron second to one of the largest greens you will play. Judgment of distance is essential to avoid 3 putting.

Hole 2
A straightforward par 3. The hole plays with a lot of dead ground before the green so take note of the yardage. Out of bounds awaits at the back of the green.

Hole 3
As the stroke index of 1 suggests the premium is on accuracy on this tight par 5. At 494 yards the green is reachable in two for the longer hitters but a 5 can easily turn into a 7. Please ring the bell when clear.

Hole 4
A good tee shot to the corner of this dogleg right leaves a short uphill second. Bunkers guard the right side of the green.

Hole 5
Off the tee this is a reachable green for the bigger hitters. A tee shot which avoids the stream and fairway bunkers will set you up for a real birdie opportunity.

Hole 6
A wide fairway invites a long drive past the tree in the center of the fairway. Judgment of distance is essential on an uphill approach shot where a bunker lies in wait for anything short.

Hole 7
Drivable for the longer hitters. If the trees to the right of the fairway are avoided, this hole's only defence is a small McKenzie green with bunkers on either side.

Hole 8
A long downhill hole requiring two solid strikes. The brave may consider hitting their tee shots over the trees to finish on the left side of the fairway. With bunkers protecting the right of the green the further right you go the more difficult your second shot.

Hole 9
An accurate medium to long iron is required to avoid the severe slope to the left and a double bunker to the right of this McKenzie green. Should be happy with a 3.

Hole 10
A slight dogleg right. Anything too long and straight could find the trees on the left. Out of bounds to the right preventing playing down the 11th fairway. Finding the center of the fairway leaves a short iron to a fairly large green.

Hole 11
An accurate tee shot is required on this tree-lined hole. From the middle of the fairway only a short iron is required to a green that is guarded by two bunkers.

Hole 12
The ideal tee shot is down the left. The further right you go the more difficult your approach shot. This green is well protected with trees to the back and right, and a small valley and bunker to the left.

Hole 13
The more you cut off this dogleg left the easier your second shot will be. A large fairway bunker on the right of the fairway is within range of most. Missing the green left or right will leave a tricky chip to a slightly elevated green.

Hole 14
An accurate tee shot with a fairway wood or long iron is required to reach the corner of the this dogleg left. A tight approach shot should avoid the large tree and bunker guarding the left hand side of the green.

Hole 15
A fairly simple tree lined par 3 hole. Judgment of distance is essential with a lot of dead ground short and trouble beyond this unprotected green.

Hole 16
A par 5 requiring three good shots. Avoid the stream and fairway bunkers with your second and you have a chance of getting on in 3 and 2 putting for a par.

Hole 17
With out of bounds on the left and trouble both right and to the back this is a demanding medium to long iron tee shot. Anything short will roll to the bottom of the bank leaving a difficult chip to the green. A par 3 will feel like a birdie.

Hole 18
With the fairway sloping left to right a tee shot down the left should finish in the ideal position. A short iron to an unprotected McKenzie green, 2 putts and it's job done.
